Our Story
In many African homes, it is the mother of the house who carries the deepest knowledge about food. She is the one who prepares the daily meals and passes down traditional recipes from one generation to the next.
Over the past few years, we have had the joy of hosting family members and friends visiting us from different countries, both from within Africa and from around the world. One thing we noticed again and again was their curiosity about our cooking. Whether we were preparing pap, vegetables, fish, meat, or snacks like fried yam, people always wanted to know more about how these dishes are made.
The kitchen quickly became the place where everyone gathered. Cooking together, sharing stories, learning about the ingredients, and finally sitting down to enjoy the meal together created very special moments for all of us. These simple experiences of cooking and sharing food brought people closer and created beautiful memories.
We realized that this kind of personal and authentic experience is quite rare for visitors in Windhoek and Namibia. Many travelers want to experience the real culture of a place, but often only see it from the outside.
That is why we created our cooking classes. We invite our guests into our home to cook together, learn about African ingredients and traditions, and enjoy a meal together in our sitting room. It is a relaxed and friendly space where culture, food, and conversation come together.
Our classes can be booked individually or as a group. We truly enjoy meeting new people, cooking together, sharing laughter, and introducing visitors to our traditions and everyday life.
We speak English, French, Swahili, and Portuguese, so guests from many parts of the world feel welcome.
